Makeup tips for brown eyes

11 February 2010

Although I do not think the ends are set in stone makeup for brown eyes, I know some people like to have a set of "rules" to help out. This article will cover some basic steps that women with brown eyes can follow. Keep in mind that variety is the spice of life, and if you really like a color there is no reason why you should not try. You may be surprised by how good it looks on you. In my experience, experimentation is all the fun. So, remember these are simply guidelines to help you choose colors when you stand in front of 300 colors and have no idea where to start. Just because nothing is mentioned about a certain color does not automatically exclude from the list.

Choosing An Eye Shadow

The most popular question I get is "What can I use eye shadow to my eye color?" Listen, and I'll tell you.

General makeup tips brown eyes always include brown, neutral beige and brown. Gray and charcoal along with this eye color, like violet and lavender. You can mix with lavender and violet.

Khaki and olive green are a great combination of colors. Brown with green or copper reflections are always a fun option. Try to copper and even gold. If your eyes have a tinge of green, or like mine, are half green, choose green eye shadow too.

You will find that although you've heard that you should never use an eyeshadow the same color of your eyes, Brown's shadow can look very good with green eyes and dark brown can be very good with green eyes. Sometimes it is a matter of finding the "right" shade. Shades of brown eyes, are quite safe, so you need not worry too much about them. Colors such as purple, green and blue require a bit more testing.

Black is out, so do not use it as a eyeshadow.

Keep trying until you find a color you like. You'll know when you do trust your instincts.

Colors to avoid

As I said, I like not rule anything out, but makeup tips for brown eyes should include that certain eye shadows pink and mauve, can make you look swollen or swelling around the eyes. It is not true for all women or all pinks, either. But if you're sure you do not want to risk, avoid pinks. Hollyhocks also fall into this category. It may be because women with brown eyes tend to have more yellow skintone and complexion takes hot pink and purple are definitely cool colors. The blue rose can react with the yellowing of the skin producing an unattractive appearance.

And while not specifically makeup tips for brown eyes, you may want to avoid blue eye shadow too. There is a misconception that blue eye shadow is "out", but like I said, really depends on the wearer. Playing it safe to skip include this color.

Silver is not a good color for brown eyes. They tend to cause a "washed" look. Leave a silver for blue eyes.

Eye Colors

And now, for the colors of eyeliner. Brown eyes should always include eyeliner brown and black. These are very good choices for this eye color. Do not line your thick black eyeliner, though. That's passé. Raccoon eyes are a big no-no.

If you are trying to open up small eyes, according to silver or white, especially the first third of the inside corner of your eyelid. Then finish with a dark brown.

Navy, dark green, violet and copper are excellent options for eyeliner. Playing with different colors and choose the ones you like best.
