How Do I Kiss On Stage Without Looking Awkward?

I am playing Laurey in our community theatre groups production of Oklahoma! The guy who is playing the lead against me is a method actor and the director is not planning on blocking the scenes between us but to let them “flow naturally” I have never really kissed a guy before and am freaking out about having to kiss him in the show. I have absolutely no experience in this and I was wondering how do I kiss, and how should I kiss him without looking awkward and just looking natural?
Thank you for your help!

Don’t over think anything. With the position your in right now you cant exactly not kiss him. Just move in, tilt your head the opposite way of his and go for it. It’s acting, its not like you have to impress him.

The crucial thing to remember is that it’s not you kissing the other actor, it’s Laurey kissing Curly. It’s also probably worth remembering that Laurey was probably in a pretty similar situation to you – she’s unlikely to have kissed very many people before! She’s young and fairly inexperienced, and so she’s going to kiss like that. Let yourself go with the flow – just remember that generally it’s accepted practice when stage kissing to avoid using tongues! Also, in every version of the show I’ve ever seen (which is quite a few) Curly kisses Laurey first, when she’s not expecting it – so that may help you. I’d recommend getting the DVD of the National Theatre’s production of the show (with Hugh Jackman and Josefina Gabrielle) and watching that – they get the proposal scene absolutely perfect, in my opinion.

Just go for it. I was in a musical too, where I had to kiss this guy. Practice a little at home on a lollipop. But don’t worry too much. When I went for it, it actually turned out pretty good.
Tip: pretend it’s someone you love

talk to him about it! explain you have never stage kissed someone before and Im sure he’ll help you out.
the main thing is to relax and ease into it.

Don’t do it if you don’t like it.
